Bead embroidery is gorgeous. I love picking up needle and thread and creating jewelry pieces encrusted with beads, crystals and mixed media.
But it is definitely NOT a fast project!
This technique gives you that same rich look, but without any sewing.
(Ok, maybe just a teeny-tiny bit of bead stringing.)
It’s also a great way to use odds and ends of beads.
Tips for choosing beads:
- Shaped two-hole beads lend a lot of interest and ways to puzzle piece them together
- Try orienting in different directions, like the super-duos
- Small rounds look great as dots
- Keep in mind the the background color will effect the appearance of translucent beads
It’s helpful to have enough beads to make two pieces, so you can leave your practice piece as reference while you make the other in epoxy clay.
Tools & Materials:
- Epoxy clay, white and black are the most popular, but it can be found in other colors
- Disposable gloves
- Acrylic roller

- Fine ball tool or stylus
- Silicone mat
- Bent needle tool
- Craft knife
- Beading thread
- Thread burner
