I was given a beading loom a while back, a tool I had never considered exploring.

But, wow, once I did start playing and experimenting, I realized the possibilities were endless!

In this video I share one of my favorite options for a beading loom, using silk fibers as the long warp threads.

You’ll learn how to make a beaded silk wrap bracelet and create recycled sari silk jewelry. Silk bracelet making on a loom with beads is easier than you think.

Tools & Materials:

• Silk ribbon such as:
  • Sari silk ribbon
  • Hand dyed Chinese silk cord
  • Silk ribbon for embroidery
  • Hand painted mulberry silk yarn
• Packing tape
• Painter’s tape
• Beading tray
• Beading thread
• Beading needles
• Thread burner
• Beading awl

For finishing:

• E6000 glue
• Fray check
• Ultra suede
• Glue in magnetic clasp
• Beading tube clasp
• 6mm jump rings
• 11/0 seed beads

• 4 yards Sari silk ribbon
• 8mm Czech fire polish – Crystal
• 7mm Czech fire polish – Crystal Metallic Teal
• 8mm filigree beads
• Ultra suede

Shades of Violet Silk Ribbon Bracelet

• 2 yards Hand dyed Chinese silk cord – Violet
• 4mm Czech fire polish beads – Metallic Magenta, Matte Tanzanite Marea, Pearlized White, Matte Rose AB
• 11/0 seed beads for peyote tube clasp (or Ultrasuede tube clasp)
• Chart below for creating diagonal rows with four colors across three columns
