ff wire hardness

In today’s video I’ll tell you about a subject that can be confusing when you first encounter it: wire hardness. As I mention in the video, the terms “full hard,” “half hard” ” and “dead soft” baffled me when I first read them, but now they’re second nature.

Really, all they mean is the relative ability of metal (in our case, usually wire) to be manipulated. If you’d like a more scientific explanation with lots of big words you can read this Wikipedia article.

This article by Rio Grande is written more for jewelry makers: Metal Hardness: It Ain’t So Hard.

Anyhow, I hope this clears things up and you find the information useful.

Enjoy the video and happy creating!
