Well, here it is, Wednesday again. ‘Tis the time for us to share what we’ve got going on on our desks, hence the name What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Sorry that I haven’t shared anything since last week.  It’s not that I haven’t been busy, but that I’m currently in the middle of several projects.  I seem to have high hopes and keep underestimating the amount of time it’s going to take to do these things, ya know?

Anyhow, this is today’s desk.  (Click on the pic for a closer look.)

Last week I was working on faux dichroic, this week it’s faux opals.  I’m following directions from an old issue of Polymer Cafe, but I’m not thrilled with the results.  Some tweaking is definitely in order.

It’s a good thing I checked on my blog today, as I found ALL of my plug ins had just disappeared!  Where’d they go?  Why’d they go?  I haven’t a clue.  I’m just thankful I’m a fanatic about backups.

Let me know if you find anything weird or “off” on the site this week, something might have been missed in the restoration.

As I mentioned last week, I’m also working on a new Etsy shop for my art jewelry.  It should be ready real soon… I hope.  lol

Thanks so much to all of you who stop by every week and leave such kind comments.  Me-thinks I need to have a comment giveaway soon.  🙂

Have a great week and happy creating!

  1. Lots of lovely bit and pieces on your desk… and such pretty colours too!! What is the steel machine in the bottom right? Looks a bit like a toaster or a pasta machine… neither of which would normally be on a craft desk? LOL

  2. So do I take it you are using the Opals with your polymer clay? I see the pasta machine is out and the alcohol inks (Mica shift?). Ooh, enquiring minds want to know. Or am I just plain nosey?

    1. Hi Neet,

The alcohol inks were just a new purchase as I needed to replenish my stock. The faux opals are made with a thin layer of polymer clay (hence, the pasta machine,) then some perfect pearls, a layer of sparkly stuff and some transparent liquid polymer.

I haven’t tried doing mica shift techniques yet, but they are definitely on my to do list!

  3. This all sounds fun …but I so know what you mean about thinkiong a project wont take long …hope you finish some soon xx

  4. Those opals and all the other things look so pretty. I am sure they will all be snapped up so fast once they go on sale. Thank you for your visit today and your lovely comments. I am less keen to get outside today, it is cold and dull, not very inviting at all. Never mind, there is plenty of time to get all the other seeds in. Have a good week. xx Maggie #17

  5. Faux opals sounds appealing! And it seems that a couple of people have had issues with their blog 🙁 waving hi from the warm and sunny hills of North Carolina 🙂

    1. Yeah, after digging deeper, it appears my hosting account has been hacked. ===sigh=== The good news is that, after the last time, I put up some security, so it appears they didn’t get as far as they might have.

  6. I think they look great, I also looked back at last weeks post too, very impressive stuff.
Things always take me longer than I planned too.

    1. Awww, thanks, Julia, you’re too kind. Actually, they do look pretty good. I have a real opal a dear friend gave me and was comparing them. It’s pretty close!

It’s just the finishing techniques I wasn’t thrilled with. I’m onto my next batch, and they’re looking quite awesome, if I say so myself. ****grin****

    1. Well, if you’re going to use the pasta machine for polymer clay, make sure you DON’T use it for food thereafter. Not a good mix. 🙂

  7. Looks intriguing! Have fun Take care, it’s Thursday but I’m still snooping the WOYWW desks & loving every minute of it! Zo xx 33
