Happy What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday again, everyone! If you’re a regular desker, welcome back. If you’ve no idea what I’m talking about, go check out our fun weekly blog hop of creative desks from all over the world, courtesy of Julia.
Today’s desk shows I’ve been, once again, sewing up a storm. I mentioned a few weeks back that I’d ordered 11 yards of fabric with which to make six pairs of pants. Four are now done, two pairs of long pants and two crop pants, one of each in black and khaki. (Photos and a pattern review coming soon.)
In the upper right is the pattern and the green fabric is the sample we settled on for a very large project, 11 sets of drapes for my church’s fellowship hall. One hundred ten yards of fabric will be arriving here soon. That’ll keep me just a little bit busy. 🙂
Also on the desk are the remaining two pants fabrics, the white which will be crop pants and the pink, which I’m thinking of making into a skirt, rather than the pants.
The big decision here is whether to use the hot pink side or the lighter pink side. Your thoughts or opinions are welcome! I tend to stick with neutrals for bottoms, like blue jeans, black, khaki or white, so am feeling a little apprehensive about either pink.
Several of you asked to see the completed memory quilt. Here it is, no thing of beauty except to those to whom the memories belong. To them it’s quite precious and I think the young man is going to enjoy it. His sister and mom especially loved the photos, and the fact that I’d stitched the little Pooh backpack on in a way that items can be tucked into it.
Sorry about the distortion in the photo. I couldn’t get far enough away from it to photograph it straight on, so it was quite key-stoned and I had to straighten it in Photoshop.
So that’s what’s happening in my crafty world lately. Whatever you are doing, may you find a bit of time to be creative!
Hi
It’s been a while I know, since I last managed to link up but I’m back now and just popping my head round the door to say hello!
Thanks for sharing your creative space and I hope you have a good week too.

Thanks for stopping by, Neil!
Gosh you have been busy, the quilt looks lovely. Just finished some sewing myself, been making a panel for Tracey at Lavinia stamps.
I love the pink fabric, it would be really nice if you could use both as the front with one as a panel around the hem.
Bye for now, happy crafting, Angela x 50
That’s a good idea, Angela, using both sides. I’ll have to consider it. 🙂
You have been busy with the sewing. Puts me to shame. I am so slow! The memory quilt will be treasured, I am sure of it. I do not envy you the job of the curtains. That is a huge amount of fabric to handle. Good luck!

It IS a lot of fabric. I’ll probably do them a few at a time to make it easier to manage.
Thanks for stopping by, Fiona!
What a wonderful keepsake! I love pink, so the more pink the better I say! LOL
Happy creative day!

Thanks, Donna. I settled the issue by bringing the fabric up to my closet and finding that more of my tops will go with the lighter pink than the darker.
Wow! I LOVE the memory quilt!! You did a tutorial on that, didn’t you? A t-shirt quilt? I’m going to find that again.
As for the pink, yeah, if you normally prefer neutrals on the lower half, you might want to go with the light pink. 😀
It wasn’t so much a tutorial as a list of helpful tips. You can find that post here: http://keepsakecrafts.net/blog/2011/09/17/tips-for-making-t-shirt-quilts/.
I did decide to go with the lighter pink because it goes with more of my summer tops, although it’s likely I’ll wear it with black or white 90% of the time.
Are you planning to make a t-shirt quilt?
Okay, that’s what I was remembering. No, I wasn’t planning to make one, but you never can tell. 😀
Those drapes are certainly going to be a mammoth labour of love! The fabric is gorgeous, though – they should look great. And I love the memory quilt – it will be treasured by that lucky recipient. Have a lovely week, Chris # 23 xx
Your project is really fantastic! Good Luck with all that fabric – it would really scare me! Thanks for visiting. Chris 79
Love the memory quilt as for the pink, the lighter one I think, but I am not really a pink person. Gosh that is a lot of fabric coming and we will require updates for sure. Thanks for sharing.

Happy WOYWW
Oh it is so funny for us Brits to hear you talking about “pants” with so much gusto as pants to us are underwear. We tend to wear trousers on top! Love the pink, I made myself some shocking pink drainpipes when I was alot younger. Thanks for your visit BJ#39
Oh my, that’s too funny, BJ! I’ll have to make sure to remember the difference, so as to prevent some unfortunate misunderstandings. lol
