Happy What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday! I hope today finds you not too stressed out, even though it’s only four days until Christmas. (What is What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday you ask? It’s only a great time to see what’s on the workdesks of creative people from all over. Take a little time out and travel with us. It’s fun!)
I’m doing pretty well in the preparation for Christmas front, there are just a few little things that still need doing. Though, for some reason, I’m feeling quite cranky and out of sorts today. I don’t know why. There’s absolutely no logic in it. It’s just the way it is.
Think I’ll go have a piece of chocolate, maybe that will help. ***grin***
Since I’ve finished all the handmade gifts for this year, I thought I’d tackle resizing this purple coat.
(You can click on any of the photos to see a larger image.)
It was given to me a while ago. It’s a gorgeous boiled wool, quite warm and cozy. However, it was big on me even before I lost 60 lbs.
As you can see, now it’s just ridiculous. A very good problem to have, in my opinion. 🙂
I’ve picked up two patterns that I’m considering for the remake. My first choice is Butterick 5425. It’s got a very feminine silhouette.
There’s LOTS of spare fabric in that purple coat, but I’m not sure there’s enough to accommodate the very flared skirt.
If that one won’t work, then I’ll use Burda 8292. Its styling is very similar to the original coat, so there should be no problem.
I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
Happy Woyww and Merry Christmas!
Wow, there is room for 2 of you in that coat – good luck! Happy Christmas, from Helen #3.
No kidding, lol. Wonder what I can do with the extra fabric….
I vote for the Butterick–I love long coats.
Wha–Wednesday? It’s already WEDNESDAY? ARRRGH!
Hahahaha, yup Wednesday has rolled around once again. It’s amazing how that happens every week. 🙂
Oh, I agree and will definitely keep it as long as possible, whichever pattern I make.
I don’t know, an oversized coat could be useful… especially if you are pondering a career in smuggling.
Lol, true! I could pad myself out, still match my driver’s license photo, and fit all kinds of interesting stuff in there.
Congratulations on the weight loss! What a great idea to resize/shape your fabulous winter jacket. I look forward to seeing what you do with it. 🙂 Merry Christmas! Tango #84
It is a wonderful colour – maybe you just need to boil it a bit more and see if it shrinks. Well done on the weight loss to – fabulous1 Thanks for sharing in such a busy week! Hope you have a very festive and wonderfully merry time – see you in 2012! Sarah at 11.
Haha, Sarah! Too bad the lining wouldn’t shrink as well. I’d be tempted to try it. 😉
I’m dropping by to greet you and your loved ones a joyful and blessed Christmas season! wow, 60 pounds, good job! congratulations! both the patterns look wonderful. Thanks for sharing your life and projects with us in your blog!
hugs,
