Happy What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday everyone!
Yes, we are still quite snowed in here, but life goes on. Hopefully though, people will drive a little slower on the slippery stuff!
Meanwhile on my desk I’ve continued to work through Abby Hook’s Wire Jewelry Masterclass. It’s a really wonderful book. If you have the slightest interest in wire work I highly recommend it as she walks you through each step with great attention to detail.
Today I’m making a necklace chain out of 18 gauge copper wire to go with the bead pendant I just finished.
It’s tedious work, indeed. First you cut bunches of 3/4-inch pieces of wire. Then one end gets looped, then the other end to make the figure “8” links. Each little end gets trimmed the tiniest amount so everything is flush and then these are all joined together to make a chain.
It came out nice, but took so much time I don’t think I’ll be making any more in the near future.
Wondering why I’m sharing photos of my desk? Well, it’s What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday, the day we all hang out at Julia’s and see each other’s creative goings on. Always fun and often inspiring, join us if you have time!
Wow I can only imagine all the time it took to create your necklace. That would have to be a passion of love for sure. Once you forget your how long it took to create is most likely when you will make a new one hugs Nikki 1
Lol, too true, Nikki!
Hi Sandy, what a huge amount of work! You must have an incredible amount of patience. Your funnies made me laugh- the top one is typical of the reaction to snow here in England- we get three snowflakes land on top of each other, its like the worlds about to end, lol. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #21 xx
I thought you guys got lots of snow in England. Huh.
Hahahahah! Am stealing your snow pics. Wow, the necklace is beautiful. I can see how tedious it would be, but at least it helps pass the time to spring, right?
Haha, steal away, Robin. I stole it from someone else.
Oh I like that bead wrapped in wire it looks so cool and will be awesome to wear. What a clever bunch of snow pictures, we are so lucky we don’t have to tend with snow in winter here. Although I would love to see how people like on a daily basis with snow. Thanks for sharing.
Happy WOYWW

How we deal with snow? Well, first we shovel. Then the sensible among us drive slowly and allow lots more time to get anywhere. (The rest are trying to zip along as usual and are out there causing accidents.)
My favorite way of dealing with it is to stay home and not go anywhere. I wouldn’t mind hibernating through January & February every year.
Goodness, Sandy. It must have taken simply AGES to do that chain… Don’t think I would have the patience for it.
Take care. God bless.

Well, I did run out of patience. It was only sheer determination and stubbornness that made me finish. 🙂
Oh my…and I need long chains for my fat neck! That would take me forever…lol I do like wire crafting and that class sounds awesome…but I am over booked with painting and art journaling classes at the moment! Maybe next year will be the year of jewelry 🙂 Shel-PaperOctilloStudio #42
So many crafts, so little time!
I love bead and wire work, but I can see where a chain like that would take a lot of time. So pretty though! Sandy Leigh #45
Thanks, Sandy!
Nice pendant – did it not make your fingers sore bending all that wire? Worth it though in the end.
Hugs, Neet 26 xx
YOour copper necklace is wonderful. I bet that chain did take a lot of time. The wire wrapped pendant though is what caught my eye. It’s one of those things that I just haven’t tried yet myself and it fascinates me. Well done!!
Turned out gorgeous! Such tedious meticulous work tho… Not sure I’ll post tomorrow the carpet installers will be here to replace the piece of carpeting they mucked up. Sorry to be so late visiting this week. Thanks for the earlier visit! Happy WOYWW! Nan G
