Hello Wednesday deskers!  Today’s post is a quick one. The list is long and time is short. 🙂

2013-11-06-woyww-vogue-8817

As my desk shows, I’m all set to start sewing Vogue 8817.  It’s a color blocked knit tunic.  I’m planning to us a striped print sweater knit for the top portion, a black lace (with the print behind it) for the middle and solid black for the bottom.

I’m making view C, in the upper right.  Love the shaped hem.

Btw, that flower die and the stamp set in the upper middle have been on my woyww desk for the past six weeks.  Maybe I’ll make them work for Tim’s November tag challenge, which is an interesting chalkboard technique.

If you’re wondering why I’m posting a pic of my desk (and a blurry one at that, sorry!) you must not be acquainted with the phenomenon that is What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday.  You can learn all about sneaking peeks at the work spaces of other creative people over at Julia’s.

Have fun and happy creating!

  1. love your vintage patterns, I pick them up from Yard sales whenever I see them!
Look forward to seeing your tag. I loved the 12 tags of Christmas so maybe I will join in with the December one!

  2. Thanks to Lunch Lady Jan I’ve been buying bits of fabric here and there. Right now I don’t have any aspirations to do any sewing – why then the fabric? It’s beautiful! I can’t wait to see your finished tunic!

    Happy WOYWW

    1. I don’t see anything wrong with collecting beautiful things, whatever they might be. If you make something with them someday, well, great! Otherwise, enjoy.

  3. I like that tunic style and have a few tunics in it already, purchased ones of course, I don’t sew to save myself. I also have that flower die, but haven’t used it much, I should do something about that.

    Happy WOYWW

    1. The best way to learn, Regina, is to grab a pattern, some fabrics and dive in and make a lot of mistakes. 🙂 I’ve got 30+ years of mistakes behind all this experience. 😀

  4. Oh love the fabric and your pattern. Haven’t sewn for myself in years. but maybe I should. Anxious to see your next tag. Love the variety it involves each month. Enjoy your WOYWW visits and have a fun creative week. #18

  5. Love that piece that will be on the front. This is going to be fab! Can’t wait to see finished sweater!
    Happy WOYWW!

    1. It went together quite easily, Belinda. The trickiest part was cutting the border print so it lined up nicely. Sadly, no, I’ll have to stick with my own figure. Don’t think I was ever that skinny, even at my thinnest in my early 20’s.

  6. I’ve got you beat. Under the piles of stuff on the left hand side of my desk are pieces of a card and stamps and I’m sure they’ve been there for 6 months. I keep telling myself, “One of these days!” I love the flowing style and funky hem of that tunic.

    1. Oh, yes, you’ve got me beat. I stubbornly refuse to put them away, though, cuz then I might never even get around to opening the packaging, lol.

  7. Fab pattern – hope we see the finished item too! Pop over to my blog and join in my 500th post giveaway! x Jo #56

    1. Isn’t that the case with anything? Got to do lots of it to get any good.:-)

Have a great week. Thanks for stopping by!

  8. Your tunic is going to be beautiful! I think C is the best out of all of them. Great to see another sewer out here too 🙂 Have a wonderful WOYWW week!

    1. Thanks, Rasz. Although I do many, many things, I always seem to come back to sewing. Part of it might be the allure of having new clothes, lol.
