Sorry that the penultimate Make It In March post is a\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">day late.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/tutorial-steps\/color-gradation-tool.JPG\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" alt=\"color gradation tool\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/tutorial-steps\/color-gradation-tool.JPG\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>First off, yesterday Robin asked what I do with the <a title=\"polymer clay color mixing - make it in march day 19\" href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/2014\/03\/27\/polymer-clay-color-mixing-make-march-day-19\/\">test clay color samples that I mix up<\/a>.\u00a0 As you can see above, each sample is made into a bead and baked. Them I string them onto some twine, write what colors were used on each end, write the proportions of color on each bead and save it to use as a reference tool.<\/p>\n<p>This strand goes from Sunshine Yellow to Fluorescent Pink. The large middle bead is a 50\/50 mix of each color. The bead next to the middle, going towards the pink, is 1\/4 Sunshine Yellow, the next is 1\/8 yellow, 1\/16 yellow and so on. These are fantastic tools if you ever want to replicate a color, as not only do you know exactly what proportions to \u00a0use, but you know how the colors look once baked.<\/p>\n<p><em>(You can learn how to make these color gradations in\u00a0Lindly Haunani and Maggie Maggio&#8217;s book,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0823015017\/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0823015017&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=secroforgapeo-20\" target=\"_blank\">Polymer Clay Color Inspirations<\/a>.<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=secroforgapeo-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=0823015017\" width=\"1\" name=\"graphics18\" align=\"BOTTOM\" border=\"0\" \/>)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Btw, those greasy looking splotches on the paper are the plasticizer that comes out of clay when it sits on paper for any amount of time. This helps stiffen up soft clays.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/beads-and-jewelry\/pink-flower-bead.JPG\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" alt=\"pink flower bead\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/beads-and-jewelry\/pink-flower-bead.JPG\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I spent a LONG time yesterday working on a pink cane for a flower, and was rather disappointed in the results. It wasn&#8217;t entirely the fault of my white clay being too squishy, although that was part of it.<\/p>\n<p>Although this pink flower isn&#8217;t\u00a0<em>horrible<\/em>, it certainly isn&#8217;t what I pictured the end result to be.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/beads-and-jewelry\/kaleidoscope-cane-bead.JPG\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" alt=\"kaleidoscope cane bead\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/beads-and-jewelry\/kaleidoscope-cane-bead.JPG\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since I had to take frequent breaks to put the pink cane in the fridge to firm up, I decided to play with this <a title=\"kaleidoscope cane\" href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/2014\/03\/18\/woyww-polymer-clay-kaleidoscope-cane\/\">kaleidoscope cane<\/a> I made a while back.<\/p>\n<p>I put two slices of the cane together around some scrap clay to make a bead, then changed the shape and added flowers to both sides.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/beads-and-jewelry\/flower-and-kaleidoscope-cane.JPG\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" alt=\"flower and kaleidoscope cane\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/beads-and-jewelry\/flower-and-kaleidoscope-cane.JPG\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the other side of that bead and a ruler to give you some idea of size.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not really thrilled with anything, it all felt sorta futile. But, some days are just like that.
