This year Nan over at <a title=\"Froggy Designs\" href=\"http:\/\/froggydesigns.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Froggy Designs<\/a> has kindly shared with me her templates for <a title=\"Christmas village houses pdf templates\" href=\"http:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/village_house_templates.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Christmas Village Houses<\/a>, which she&#8217;s allowed me to share with you.<\/p>\n<p>(Click <a title=\"steampunk village houses\" href=\"http:\/\/froggydesigns.blogspot.com\/2013\/12\/woyww-236-houses.html\" target=\"_blank\">here to see Nan&#8217;s way cool steampunk version<\/a> of these houses.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/votive-village-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" alt=\"votive-village-1\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/votive-village-1.jpg\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I decided to make my houses out of vellum which was first embossed with white embossing powder. (Click on any of the photos for a closer look.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/votive-village-3.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" alt=\"votive-village-3\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/votive-village-3.jpg\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Why embossed vellum, you ask? \u00a0So I could put battery operated votive candles inside. Aren&#8217;t they pretty?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/votive-village-2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" alt=\"votive-village-2\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/votive-village-2.jpg\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cutting out all those little windows was a bit tedious (I used a craft knife) but I love the way they look.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/votive-village-5.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" alt=\"votive-village-5\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/votive-village-5.jpg\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The stamps I used for embossing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B001GP5OJK?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=secroforgapeo-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B001GP5OJK\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\">Inkadinkado 7-Piece Snowflakes A-Plenty Clear Stamp<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\">All Night Media Wood-Mounted Stamps &#8211; Splatter Pattern (this appears to be no longer available on Amazon)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0045BNUFM?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=secroforgapeo-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B0045BNUFM\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Holtz Visual Artistry Collection Stampers Anonymous Clear Stamps &#8211; Urban Grunge<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Hero Arts&#8217;\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0040H1NEQ\/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=secroforgapeo-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B0040H1NEQ\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\">Music Background<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In order for the votive candles to fit I made the sides of the houses 1\/4-inch longer than on the templates. Don&#8217;t forget to make the roofs 1\/4-inch wider as well<\/p>\n<p>Also, unless you cut out each roofline\u00a0<em>perfectly<\/em>, I recommend you hold off on scoring all but the center line of your roof top. \u00a0Then hold it on your house and mark the next fold line. \u00a0This will make them fit better than on my houses, which are a bit wonky.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/votive-village-4.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"votive-village-4\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/votive-village-4.jpg\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This was a fun project to work on while listening to some Christmas music, and I love turning off the lights and admiring my glowing little village.<\/p>\n<p>Merry Christmas and Happy Creating!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It never feels quite like Christmas until I&#8217;ve done a few last minute just-cuz-I-want-to crafts.
