Tim’s tag for September<\/a> shows a great technique for making the look of riveted old metal. \u00a0It seemed just the right look for a\u00a0masculine birthday card.<\/p>\n

When Tim first started doing videos, he used\u00a0Nashua Foil Tape<\/a>. \u00a0Since I still have the better part of a\u00a0humongous\u00a0roll, I used that. \u00a0However there’s also\u00a0Ranger Metal Foil Tape<\/a>\u00a0available now, just so you know.<\/p>\n

I didn’t have all the exact colors of alcohol inks Tim called for, but\u00a0Denim<\/a>,\u00a0Ginger<\/a>\u00a0and Slate<\/a>\"\"\u00a0worked just fine. \u00a0Rather than venture down the basement to find steel wool (it’s a scary place down there!) I used 600 grit sandpaper which was handy. \u00a0I left a bit more ink on the foil that Tim did and kinda like it better.<\/p>\n

Instead of the typewriter I stamped the truck from Tim’s\u00a0The Journey<\/a>\u00a0stamp set onto\u00a0Grunge paper<\/a>\u00a0and embossed with\u00a0Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder, black<\/a>. \u00a0Some Ranger Vintaj Patina<\/a>\"\"\u00a0in Nouveau Silver was on my desk, so I used that to add touches to the truck and a few smudges to the birthday sentiment.<\/p>\n

The birthday sentiment is from Fiskars\u00a0Quote Clear Stamps: Make A Wish<\/a>\u00a0set. \u00a0You might notice that I get a LOT of use out of this set. \u00a0My favorite inside sentiment is “Growing OLD is mandatory, growing UP is optional.” \u00a0Always makes me smile.<\/p>\n

The map paper is from Tim’s\u00a0Crowded Attic Paper Stash<\/a>. \u00a0(Another item I use ALL the time.) \u00a0The card is just a piece of\u00a0Kraft cardstock<\/a>, cut to 10″x7″, folded, then inked with\u00a0Vintage Photo<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Walnut Stain<\/a>\u00a0Distress Inks.<\/p>\n

The addition of\u00a0Sprocket Gears<\/a>,\u00a0Mini Gears<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Filmstrip Ribbon<\/a>\u00a0really adds to the masculine steampunk look. \u00a0Hope my dad likes it!<\/p>\n
