The August 2012 Tim Holtz<\/a> tag is a fun one, with some great techniques. \u00a0It has a nice, classy look and a very vintage feel.<\/p>\n

\"august-tag-of-2012-blue-rose\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The first step is to stamp a Tag<\/a>\u00a0with a\u00a0frame using Clear Embossing Ink<\/a>\u00a0and then heat emboss with\u00a0Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder, black<\/a>. \u00a0My frame is from Tim’s\u00a0Urban Grunge<\/a>\u00a0stamp set. \u00a0Then you stamp an image inside the frame with\u00a0Jet Blac<\/a>k Archival Ink<\/a>. \u00a0My bird is from the\u00a0Inkadinkado Birds Galore Clear Stamp set<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Next is dry embossing with the\u00a0Postcard Embossing Folder<\/a>\"\"\u00a0and a machine like\u00a0Sizzix Big Shot<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To create a resist on the raised part of the embossing, on a Craft Sheet<\/a>\"\"\u00a0mix some\u00a0Folk Art Acrylic Paint, Teal<\/a>\"\"\u00a0with\u00a0Folk Art Acrylic Paint, Wicker White<\/a>\"\"\u00a0\u00a0and apply lightly with a piece of\u00a0Cut-N-Dry Foam<\/a>.\u00a0(I didn’t apply paint to the area inside my frame.)<\/p>\n

Cut the bottom of the tag with the\u00a0On The Edge Brackets Die<\/a>\"\". \u00a0Tim left his tag shaped on the bottom, but I thought mine didn’t look right proportionally, so I added a piece of patterned paper. \u00a0Now you can ink the area inside the frame with\u00a0Antique Linen<\/a>\u00a0Distress ink. \u00a0Add\u00a0Vintage Photo<\/a>\u00a0outside of the frame and\u00a0Walnut Stain<\/a>\u00a0around the outside edges of the tag.<\/p>\n

Once the inking is done, lightly wipe over the tag with a damp towel. \u00a0This removes the ink from the painted area, very cool!<\/p>\n

Follow Tim’s directions<\/a> to make paper flowers with the\u00a0Tattered Pine Cone<\/a>\"\"\u00a0die. \u00a0I love his tip about using the\u00a0Sanding Grip<\/a>\"\"\u00a0to sand the edges while the paper is still flat.<\/p>\n

Once they were done, I inked my flowers with\u00a0Wild Honey<\/a>,\u00a0Broken China<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Worn Lipstick<\/a>\u00a0Distress inks. \u00a0The leaves and branches were inked with\u00a0Iced Spruce and Evergreen Bough<\/a>\"\"\u00a0Distress inks.<\/p>\n

The pearl centers are from some old, broken jewelry and are glued in with\u00a0Glossy Accents<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I made my own pearl mist with\u00a0Perfect Pearls Heirloom Gold<\/a>\u00a0mixed with water in a\u00a0Mini Mister<\/a>. \u00a0After I sprayed the tag and flowers, all the colors seemed way too muted, so I went back over the bird with a black\u00a0Zig Marker<\/a>\u00a0to make it stand out.<\/p>\n

To finish the top of the tag, color a piece of\u00a0Lavish Trimmings<\/a>\"\"\u00a0with\u00a0Spun Sugar Distress Stain<\/a>. \u00a0Add some pearl dangles, (from yet more broken jewelry)\u00a0Tim Holtz Idea-ology Trinket Pins<\/a>,\u00a0Tim Holtz Facets<\/a>\"\"\"\"\u00a0and\/or whatever other charms and doo-dads you may have around.<\/p>\n

Would you believe\u00a0<\/em>this tag was made with only supplies I had on hand? \u00a0That may be a testament to too much time shopping in my local craft store, lol.<\/p>\n
