margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=secroforgapeo-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B0013QRY8Q\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/> by Inkadinkado. \u00a0(Great on cards for guys!)<\/p>\n<p>I used an old Sizzix die which is no longer available for the Holly, but this one looks similar.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width: 120px; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=secroforgapeo-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B00161N1QM\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/>\u00a0on the berries, but they were way too bright for this antique looking card. \u00a0Rubbing on a little\u00a0Antique Linen Distress Stickles\u00a0\u00a0toned them down perfectly.<\/p>\n<p>Another great tip from Tim was to wrap twine around something like a pencil and heat it for 10 seconds to set. \u00a0Instant shaping. \u00a0Awesome!<\/p>\n<p>Now, about today&#8217;s technique. \u00a0For quite some time Tim has been teaching us to use\u00a0<a title=\"Cut n Dry Foam\" href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2hTIxXq\" target=\"_blank\">Cut n Dry Foam<\/a>\u00a0and reinkers\u00a0(like these, <a title=\"Vintage Photo Distress Ink Reinker\" href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2hCeRPf\" target=\"_blank\">Vintage Photo Distress Ink Reinker<\/a>,\u00a0<a title=\"Worn Lipstick Distress Reinker\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B000WWIQCU\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B000WWIQCU&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=secroforgapeo-20&amp;linkId=L6JFN5F5QXQM76WV\" target=\"_blank\">Worn Lipstick Distress Reinker<\/a>,\u00a0<a title=\"Tim Holtz Broken China Distress Reinker\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00161NFI6?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=secroforgapeo-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00161NFI6\" target=\"_blank\">Broken China Distress Reinker<\/a>)\u00a0to create a custom colored ink pad for our stamps. \u00a0Last year I actually did finally purchase some Cut n Dry and made custom pads for two of my stamps.<\/p>\n<p>As Tim suggested, I stamped off a sample image, stored my stamp pad in a ziploc bag and adhered the sample to the outside of the bag.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s my sample from the Old World Stamp:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/tutorial-steps\/custom-ink-pad-map-before.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/tutorial-steps\/custom-ink-pad-map-before.jpg\" alt=\"custom-ink-pad-map-before\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here is how it stamped last night (about 10 months later.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/tutorial-steps\/custom-ink-pad-map-after.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/tutorial-steps\/custom-ink-pad-map-after.jpg\" alt=\"custom-ink-pad-map-after\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is a cool stamp, and would look good in most any colors, but I was sorry to see that the inks had not stayed in their places. \u00a0The greens appear to have done the most moving, and pretty much took over the blues.<\/p>\n<p>Like I said, not a big deal with the map stamp, but take a look at this one, done at the same time as the map.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/tutorial-steps\/custom-ink-pad-flowers-before.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/tutorial-steps\/custom-ink-pad-flowers-before.jpg\" alt=\"custom-ink-pad-flowers-before\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s how it stamped last night, quite disappointing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/tutorial-steps\/custom-ink-pad-flowers-after.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/tutorial-steps\/custom-ink-pad-flowers-after.jpg\" alt=\"custom-ink-pad-flowers-after\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Again, it seems like the greens have taken over. \u00a0Ah, well. \u00a0I used Distress reinkers, I wonder if other inks behave differently?<\/p>\n<p>I will continue to use this technique, but will have in mind more projects I&#8217;m going to make in multiples right now, rather than saving for future use.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully I&#8217;ll have time later today to work on days <a title=\"12 tags of Christmas - day 4\" href=\"http:\/\/timholtz.com\/12-tags-of-christmastag-4\/\" target=\"_blank\">four <\/a>and <a title=\"12 tags of Christmas day 5\" href=\"http:\/\/timholtz.com\/12-tags-of-christmastag-5\/\" target=\"_blank\">five<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>Creative Hugs,<\/p>\n<p>Sandy<\/p>\n<p>*****Update******<\/p>\n<p>After writing this post I sent Tim Holtz an email asking him if he had any comments or insights regarding my problem. \u00a0Approximately four minutes later he sent me this reply: \u00a0(Thanks for being so quick to respond, Tim!)<\/p>\n<p><em>hi sandy &#8211; thanks for the email. \u00a0when i go back to use a custom stamp pad (depending on how long it&#8217;s been stored, etc) if the inks have migrated, i simply re-ink the areas i want to punch the color up in. \u00a0bascialy from your photos, the inks have still maintained separation (as in the entire pad is not muddy brown), but it appears the lighter colors wicked some of the darker distress. \u00a0another thing i do, if i feel i&#8217;ve used the pad, and the colors are too far gone, is to rinse the pad in water, let it dry overnight and start fresh as your stamped image will still be left on the fabric. \u00a0hope this helps and thanks for the kind words&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As promised in yesterday&#8217;s post, here is my project based on day three of Tim Holtz&#8217;s 12 Tags of Christmas.
