Father’s Day is coming up fast, so I thought I’d share this layout, my hubby’s first Father’s Day.<\/p>\n

\"first-fathers-day<\/a>I made a pocket to keep the cards he received and had a blast coloring in the frogs with watercolor pencils.\u00a0 Aren’t they adorable?\u00a0 Oh, and the baby’s kinda cute, too.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

The title is made with Grungeboard Alphas<\/a>.\u00a0 First I painted them with the Denim Paint Dabber<\/a>\u00a0and Peeled Paint Distress Crackle Paint<\/a>, then for added dimension I went over them with Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The papers are from K & Company’s Hopscotch Boy 12×12 Paper Pad<\/a>\"\"\u00a0and the stamp is Penny Black’s Toadily Clear Stamps<\/a>\"\"\u00a0set.<\/p>\n

For watercoloring first I stamp with Black StazOn Permanent Ink\u00a0(you have to use a waterproof ink or else it will run when it gets wet.)\u00a0 Then I use a basic set of watercolor pencils, Faber-Castell 24-Color GRIP Watercolor EcoPencil Set<\/a>\u00a0is great.\u00a0 A Waterbrush<\/a>\"\"\u00a0is perfect for doing the blending.\u00a0 (This link leads to a medium size brush, but you should be sure to get fine and large sizes, too.)<\/p>\n

\"first-fathers-day<\/a>I asked Gary to write his own thoughts and memories for this layout, but he hasn’t done it yet.\u00a0 In the meantime,\u00a0 here’s what I wrote:<\/p>\n

Gary is a wonderful, hands-on dad who loves hanging out with his new little guy.
\nPhoto, opposite page<\/span>:\u00a0 Changing little boys’ diapers can be a dangerous activity. You have to be ready for anything that might spring up.\u00a0 Gary always gets a fresh diaper open and ready, just in case.\u00a0 Josh doesn’t seem to mind wearing it for a minute.
\nPhoto, top middle<\/span>:\u00a0 The matching shirts Mom made for her two guys.
\nPhoto, top right<\/span>:\u00a0 Josh often gets fussy right before his dinner time, but it takes a few minutes to warm up the bottle in hot water on the stove.\u00a0 To keep him distracted, Gary flies him around while we’re waiting.\u00a0 (Gary’s mom finds this maneuver quite horrifying.)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\"first-fathers-day<\/a>Cropping these six\u00a0photos to 3″ square, then matting them all on a 7″ x 10 \u00bc” rectangle lets you get a lot of pics onto one page without it looking too busy.\u00a0 I like the added touch of rounding just the two left corners, it makes the whole more cohesive.<\/p>\n
