{"id":1741,"date":"2011-05-29T20:59:57","date_gmt":"2011-05-30T00:59:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/?p=1741"},"modified":"2011-12-19T17:25:24","modified_gmt":"2011-12-19T22:25:24","slug":"a-two-minute-craft-to-save-your-next-cookout-or-picnic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/2011\/05\/29\/a-two-minute-craft-to-save-your-next-cookout-or-picnic\/","title":{"rendered":"A Two Minute Craft To Save Your Next Cookout or Picnic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a super-easy but immensely practical craft to help keep your paper goods from blowing about during your next cookout or picnic.\u00a0 I call them picnic weights.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/picnic-weights.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/picnic-weights.jpg\" alt=\" picnic tablecloth weight\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It will probably take you longer to collect the materials than it will to make the craft.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll need:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>9&#8243;-12&#8243; squares of material to make the bundles, (tulle, netting, fabric scraps, old hankies, linen napkins, use whatever you&#8217;ve got)<\/li>\n<li>something heavy to be the weights (rocks, marbles, glass beads, again, use what you&#8217;ve got)<\/li>\n<li>rubber bands<\/li>\n<li>18&#8243; of ribbon for each weight<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Directions:<\/p>\n<p>Lay out your square of fabric.\u00a0 I used approximately 9&#8243; x 18&#8243; pieces of tulle leftover from another project.\u00a0 I doubled the tulle to make a 9&#8243; square figuring it would make a more full ruffle at the top.<\/p>\n<p>Lay your weights in the middle of the square.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/picnic-weights-001.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/picnic-weights-001.jpg\" alt=\"picnic weights step 1\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Gather the corners and twist.\u00a0 Hold your bundle together with a rubber band.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/picnic-weights-003.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/picnic-weights-003.jpg\" alt=\"picnic-weights-003\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now tie a ribbon around the bundle, covering the rubber band.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/picnic-weights.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/picnic-weights.jpg\" alt=\" picnic tablecloth weight\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">That&#8217;s it, you&#8217;re done!\u00a0 Make one weight for every stack of plates or napkins you will have.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/picnic-weights-006.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/crafts\/picnic-weights-006.jpg\" alt=\"picnic tablecloth weights\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Some other uses for these weights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>hold down the corners of a picnic blanket<\/li>\n<li>hold down the edges of a tablecloth<\/li>\n<li>at the beach, to keep down the corners of a beach towel or blanket<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Have a wonderful Memorial Day, everyone.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t forget that it&#8217;s not all about cookouts and get-togethers with friends, but about remembering those who sacrificed everything for our freedoms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a super-easy but immensely practical craft to help keep your paper goods from blowing about during your next cookout or picnic.\u00a0 I call them picnic weights.
