{"id":1643,"date":"2011-05-09T10:27:05","date_gmt":"2011-05-09T14:27:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/?p=1643"},"modified":"2016-11-22T18:17:05","modified_gmt":"2016-11-22T23:17:05","slug":"first-mothers-day-scrapbook-layout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/2011\/05\/09\/first-mothers-day-scrapbook-layout\/","title":{"rendered":"First Mother&#8217;s Day Scrapbook Layout"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since Saturday was National Scrapbooking Day, and Sunday was Mother&#8217;s Day, I thought I&#8217;d share with you my First Mother&#8217;s Day scrapbook layout.<\/p>\n<p>I had a LOT of fun with this, after doing many boy-type pages with blues and greens, I went all out girly.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/scrapbooking\/1988-05-08-first-mothers-day-a-sbp.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/scrapbooking\/1988-05-08-first-mothers-day-a-sbp.jpg\" alt=\"first-mothers-day scrapbook page left\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This one is FULL of fun techniques, it was such a blast to do! Here are just a few of the products and techniques:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<a title=\"QuicKutz Spooky Scroll 12 inch border die\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B002VEE6R6\/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=secroforgapeo-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399349&amp;creativeASIN=B002VEE6R6\" target=\"_blank\">QuicKutz Spooky Scroll<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=secroforgapeo-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B002VEE6R6&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399349\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/> border die to make the arches. I don&#8217;t think they look spooky at all, but put me in mind of a garden trellis.<\/li>\n<li>For the journaling tag, the <a title=\"Spellbinders Nestabilities Mega Dies, Labels 8\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B002PHLSDY?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=secroforgapeo-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B002PHLSDY\" target=\"_blank\">Spellbinders Nestabilities Mega Dies, Labels 8<\/a><\/li>\n<li>For the flowers, several layers of white mulberry paper, cut with the\u00a0<a title=\"Sizzix Flower Layers #3 die\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B002GCA2VC\/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=secroforgapeo-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399349&amp;creativeASIN=B002GCA2VC\" target=\"_blank\">Sizzix Flower Layers #3<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=secroforgapeo-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B002GCA2VC&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399349\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/>\u00a0die.\u00a0 Simply crumple each of the flowers after die cutting, then stack, offsetting the petals.<\/li>\n<li>I used Dimensional Adhesive\u00a0to make a pocket for the Mother&#8217;s Day cards I received.\u00a0 The one you can see, &#8220;For You Daughter,&#8221; was actually from my mother-in-law.\u00a0 How sweet! It still brings tears to my eyes when I read it.<\/li>\n<li>The transparencies are Prima Clear Paintables.\u00a0 They come in 12&#8243;x12&#8243; sheets with four 6&#8243;x6&#8243; designs on each sheet.\u00a0 It was a blast painting the back side with alcohol inks and blending solution.\u00a0 Go <a title=\"alcohol ink on transparency technique\" href=\"http:\/\/timholtz.com\/12-tags-of-ch-5\/\" target=\"_blank\">here <\/a>(steps 1-15) to see terrific step-by-step instructions by\u00a0Tim Holtz for this technique.\u00a0 (One of these days I&#8217;ll make a video for ya&#8217;ll.)<\/li>\n<li>The background papers are from <a title=\"K and Company's Que Sera Sera 12x12 paper pad\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B001VGEPHQ?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=secroforgapeo-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B001VGEPHQ\" target=\"_blank\">K and Company&#8217;s Que Sera Sera Collection<\/a>.\u00a0 LOVE those papers.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll be sad once I&#8217;ve used up the whole paper pack.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/scrapbooking\/1988-05-08-first-mothers-day-ab-sbp.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/scrapbooking\/1988-05-08-first-mothers-day-ab-sbp.jpg\" alt=\"first-mothers-day two page scrapbook layout\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Each of those little squares was done with a different technique involving distress inks, rubber stamping, embossing and painting with a variety of media.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll share each one in a separate tutorial some time soon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/scrapbooking\/1988-05-08-first-mothers-day-b-sbp.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/scrapbooking\/1988-05-08-first-mothers-day-b-sbp.jpg\" alt=\"first-mothers-day scrapbook page right\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It&#8217;s hard to believe that little baby is now 23 years old and a Marine.\u00a0 Jeepers, where does the time go?<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll leave you with the journaling:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>My first Mother&#8217;s Day was May 8, 1988, Joshua was just 17 days old.\u00a0 Our church always had special recognition for the mom&#8217;s on that day: the mom with the most kids, the grandma with the most grandkids, the newest mom, etc. My friend, Karen Wilson, went into labor at nearly the same time as I did.\u00a0 Our husbands were surprised to see each other in the waiting room at the hospital.\u00a0 Sadly, by the time I was ready to go home with Josh, she was still in labor.\u00a0 It was awful and lasted over 72 hours for her.\u00a0 So, when she got the Newest Mom roses, beating me out by less than 48 hours, I was happy for her.\u00a0 She told me later she thought of sharing them with me, but decided she&#8217;d earned them.\u00a0 I heartily agreed!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since Saturday was National Scrapbooking Day, and Sunday was Mother&#8217;s Day, I thought I&#8217;d share with you my First Mother&#8217;s Day scrapbook layout.
