{"id":1600,"date":"2011-05-02T10:32:24","date_gmt":"2011-05-02T14:32:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/?p=1600"},"modified":"2011-12-19T17:47:49","modified_gmt":"2011-12-19T22:47:49","slug":"scrapbook-layout-marine-corps-boot-camp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/2011\/05\/02\/scrapbook-layout-marine-corps-boot-camp\/","title":{"rendered":"Scrapbook Layout &#8211; Marine Corps Boot Camp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been doing quite a bit of sewing this past week but I can&#8217;t share any of it with you quite yet.\u00a0 Two of the projects are gifts and one is an uber top secret challenge for Quilting Arts magazine.\u00a0 I think I&#8217;ll be able to show you that one some time around November or December.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, here&#8217;s another scrapbook layout for you.\u00a0 The military theme seems appropriate for this day.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t you just love how delighted Josh &amp; his buddy look?\u00a0 I think they&#8217;re glad to be done with boot camp!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/scrapbooking\/2007-01-18-barracks-a-sbp.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/scrapbooking\/2007-01-18-barracks-a-sbp.jpg\" alt=\"marine corps boot camp barracks scrapbook page left\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I found\u00a0the calendar that&#8217;s taking up the left side of the page online at the Marine Corps website.\u00a0 It shows what kinds of things the guys (and gals!) would be doing every day and every week throughout their training.\u00a0 It was great to be able to follow along at home and have an idea of what he was up to.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/scrapbooking\/2007-01-18-Barracks-ab-sbp.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none alignnone\" title=\"marine corps boot camp barracks two page scrapbook layout\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/scrapbooking\/2007-01-18-Barracks-ab-sbp.jpg\" alt=\"marine corps boot camp barracks two page scrapbook layout\" width=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Here&#8217;s the journaling:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>After the pin ceremony Josh had liberty until 7 p.m., so we got to hang out with him for\u00a0 a while.\u00a0 We&#8217;d been following along with this calendar for the 13 weeks he was gone, but we wanted to hear all the details he hadn&#8217;t written home about, especially about the Crucible.\u00a0 We took him to lunch, got a tour of the barracks, met his DIs and learned a lot about what he&#8217;s been doing.\u00a0 You can tell by the picture below that he and the other guys were very pleased and excited about their accomplishment!<\/p>\n<p>Photos on opposite page, clockwise from top right:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The entrance to the barracks<\/li>\n<li>Josh with DI Sgt. Hammer<\/li>\n<li>A photo we took the day we arrived (Wednesday) we couldn&#8217;t tell if Josh was in there or not &#8211; later he told us we&#8217;d just missed him.<\/li>\n<li>His trunk with his gear &#8211; impressively neat and tidy.<\/li>\n<li>Josh with DI Sgt. McCombs<\/li>\n<li>A depleted &#8220;scuzz brush&#8221; &#8211; These started out as full brushes, but were worn down by the guys running around with two hands on them pushing them\u00a0 along the floor.\u00a0 Not fun!\u00a0 Mostly used as a punishment.<\/li>\n<li>DI SSgt.
