{"id":11729,"date":"2017-08-22T14:02:15","date_gmt":"2017-08-22T18:02:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/?p=11729"},"modified":"2018-10-10T22:10:07","modified_gmt":"2018-10-11T02:10:07","slug":"get-crackle-effects-polymer-clay-tutorial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/2017\/08\/22\/get-crackle-effects-polymer-clay-tutorial\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Get Crackle Effects in Polymer Clay Tutorial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ever since the first time I got crackles on a piece of polymer clay<\/strong> ( I think it was by accident) I&#8217;ve been fascinated with the look and the concept.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/polymer-clay-tutorials\/crackled-effects-cover.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/polymer-clay-tutorials\/crackled-effects-cover.jpg\" alt=\"crackled effects cover\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>One of my go-to techniques<\/strong> for creating an interesting finish on polymer clay is to simply add a sheet of<em> metallic leaf<\/em> to a sheet of clay and then run it through the pasta machine:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>once in one direction<\/li>\n<li>then turn 90\u00b0<\/li>\n<li>make setting slightly thinner<\/li>\n<li>run though in other direction<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>This gives you sparkling, even crackles in both directions.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve also been seeing a lot of <strong>clay on clay crackles<\/strong> lately and wanted to explore this. The <strong>chunky crackles<\/strong> look especially cool and I&#8217;ll be sharing how to do those soon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/polymer-clay-tutorials\/crackled-effects.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/keepsakecrafts.net\/blog\/wp-content\/gallery\/polymer-clay-tutorials\/crackled-effects.jpg\" alt=\"crackled effects\" width=\"447\" height=\"251\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The dreamy, atmospheric looking crackles<\/strong> in the center of the above photo were done by folding and then rolling the sheet through the pasta machine a few more times after the initial crackling.
