Wow, this post is WAY overdue. My sincere apologies for taking so long to get this out. Late last year Kris K. shared with me the profusion of dolls that she made with my Topsy-Turvy doll pattern.

As you can see she got quite busy and made a whole bunch of them. Anyone who can make TWENTY of these dolls has my respect and admiration.

I love all the different colors, they are all so adorable and she did a wonderful job.

If you’re looking for a nice gift to make for someone special, perhaps for the upcoming holidays, you can check out my free Topsy Turvy doll pattern  Kris says that my “directions were perfect!” So that’s nice to know. 🙂

By the way, someone pointed out that on the pattern the waking doll’s eyelashes are on her eyebrows! Silly me, how did  I never notice that? Anyhow, I know YOU know where they go. 😀

Happy creating, all!

For the past six months I have been giving away packages of handcrafted jewelry worth over $100 each! I hope the 10 winners so far have enjoyed their jewelry prizes. 🙂

In 2016 I plan to donate my extra jewelry to a women’s ministry. Many of you suggested that when I started the giveaways over the summer and I think it’s a good idea.

It’s been my pleasure to share with all of you, I wish I could have sent everyone a piece of jewelry, but it’s not possible. Instead, I feel like I’m doing something even better: teaching you how to make your own custom jewelry pieces in exactly the colors & styles you like.

Watch the video below for details. Or watch the video on YouTube.

Please fill out the Rafflecopter area below for your chance to win.

Rafflecopter doesn’t show up on some mobile devices, btw. If you don’t see it below, try refreshing, check back later or visit on a different device.

faux lampwork

This week instead of making an entire jewelry project, I’m going to show you how to make your own beads. These are faux lampwork and made with polymer clay and liquid clay.

It’s a fun technique to experiment and practice with. I still have ideas for how to get even more of a glassy shine. Will get back to you when I’ve done some more playing!

Here are the supplies used to make these beads:

Happy creating!

You can watch the Faux Lampwork Polymer Clay Tutorial video over at YouTube.

A Giveaway!

The Knight’s Treasure very kindly sent me two of their Pandora style bracelets, complete with three lampwork glass and sterling silver charms each. One for me and one to give away to a lucky YouTube viewer. To enter to win just fill out the Rafflecopter area below.

The giveaway closes at midnight, Wednesday, November 25th. I’ll announce the winners sometime over the Thanksgiving weekend, so be sure to check back to see if you won!

Several folks have already started talking about (and maybe even doing) fall sewing. Personally I’m not ready, but then again, I’m usually not ready for fall until some time in November, lol.

Delta Hooded Vest free pattern

Anyhow, I came across this free pattern from Hot Patterns that I thought you might like. I’m not really into hoodies, but I do like the hem shaping on this one. It might be something nice to make for a gift.

Speaking of gifts, lot of people have been using my Topsy Turvy doll pattern to make gifts. Here are some pics that Barbara sent me of her version.

Love the curly hair!

And then there’s Anita, whose 10 year old daughter used my pattern to make a Frozen themed doll, with Anna on one side….

… and Olaf on the other!

Adorable.

As you can see, many have had great success with this pattern, so keep it in mind for gift giving.

In the meantime, I’m keeping my mind firmly planted in summer. 🙂

Happy creating!

It never feels quite like Christmas until I’ve done a few last minute just-cuz-I-want-to crafts. This year Nan over at Froggy Designs has kindly shared with me her templates for Christmas Village Houses, which she’s allowed me to share with you.

(Click here to see Nan’s way cool steampunk version of these houses.)

votive-village-1

I decided to make my houses out of vellum which was first embossed with white embossing powder. (Click on any of the photos for a closer look.)

votive-village-3

Why embossed vellum, you ask?  So I could put battery operated votive candles inside. Aren’t they pretty?

votive-village-2

Cutting out all those little windows was a bit tedious (I used a craft knife) but I love the way they look.

votive-village-5

The stamps I used for embossing:

In order for the votive candles to fit I made the sides of the houses 1/4-inch longer than on the templates. Don’t forget to make the roofs 1/4-inch wider as well

Also, unless you cut out each roofline perfectly, I recommend you hold off on scoring all but the center line of your roof top.  Then hold it on your house and mark the next fold line.  This will make them fit better than on my houses, which are a bit wonky.

votive-village-4

This was a fun project to work on while listening to some Christmas music, and I love turning off the lights and admiring my glowing little village.

Merry Christmas and Happy Creating!
