Happy Wednesday all!  Today finds us snowed in.  The forecast is for 10″-15″ of the light and fluffy stuff.  If you don’t live in a climate that gets snow, you might not appreciate the difference, but believe me, one would much rather shovel a foot and a half of this stuff over 6 inches of the wet and heavy.  (Of course, some of us would rather simply move somewhere it doesn’t snow.) 🙂

2014-01-22-woyww-january-tim-holtz-tag

On my desk are the preparations for working on Tim’s January 2014 tag. I’m not particularly inspired by his tag this month, perhaps adding some jewel tone colors to the metallics will make it more to my liking. Anyhow, I hope to spend the snow day playing with Tim tools, paper & ink.

2014-01-11-cheech-in-sewing-room-2

In case you were wondering, my sons’ kitties are settling in nicely. Above is Cheech sitting under my sewing room table, he’s a sweetheart and has become my buddy.

2014-01-14-chong

Here’s his brother, Chong, also hanging out in the sewing room.  He’s a bit more wary, but is getting a little more comfortable with us every day. (Yes, those really are their names.    ===sigh===    A 21-year-old named them, what can I say?)

2014-01-17-oliver-cheech

Here are Cheech and Oliver hanging out together, looking out the window.  You might notice that there are no pics of Molly.  That’s because she’s been too busy being a mean, nasty little tyrant and ruling all the boys with an iron paw.  (We keep trying to tell the guys to gang up on her, but they’re too intimidated, lol.)

So, why in the world did I post a photo of my messy desk?  Well, it’s What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday.  If you don’t know what that is you really should proceed immediately to Julia’s and check it out.  It’s a lot of fun and a fascinating concept to boot.

Happy creating!

  1. Your desk looks suitably creative! And the kitties are just gorgeous, despite their names 🙂 , poor kitties 🙂
    Have a good week,

    1. We call them “Cheech-ums” and “Chongo.” They are well loved, and fortunately, don’t care a bit what their names are. (I just hate saying them, lol.)

    1. Isn’t it cute? It’s a cuckoo clock set, with all the separate bits and pieces. I got it cuz it was on clearance and figured this would be a good time to justify the purchase by using it. 🙂

    1. You are so right, I’m always astounded by how many products one can use on a single tag or card. And I didn’t even get out stamps yet, lol.
Congrats on getting #1; say, “Hi,” to Bleubeard. 🙂

  2. yes nice and inky inspiring desk, love it 😀 and pusses well they are certainly cute surprised that 21 y.o wanted two cats let along name them 😀 happy WOYWW Shaz in Oz.x #7

    1. He grew up with cats, was living alone and I think he enjoyed the company. I’m sure he misses them very much, but I don’t know that I’ll want to give them back when the time comes!

    1. Yes, Chong is lovely. He also leaves chunks of that fur everywhere. He seems to like my black sewing room chair. I’m going to have to get a cover for it, or else go everywhere with a fuzzy butt, haha.

  3. I am a huge Tim fan, but am going to change this one up a bit too. Now that I am not teaching his tags(that store closed down), I have a little more licence to play! LOVE your sons cats…We have a cat who has adopted us. We had no say in the matter and my son ADORES him. #25

    1. I’m sorry to hear of yet another store closing down, booo. Have fun being creative, though!

Yes, kitties have a way of getting themselves adopted, don’t they?

  4. Aw, I love the steampunk tag! But I can’t wait to see yours because it will be better.

FOUR cats? Wow, you do have Kitty City there. Good luck with the snow. We may see more of that way down here, but probably not till early March, when all the trees and flowers are starting to bloom. 🙁

    1. Imagine if I had my dad’s four as well? That would be official crazy cat people territory, I think.

You guys get snow in March? I thought it was nice by then down your way.

  5. Hi Sandy! Well, I have been so curious about the Tim Holtz tags each year, I finally checked it out. I have so many questions. It looks like everyone does the exact tag he’s doing that month. Is that right? I love his brand, and it is a brilliant way for him to promote his products. What is the deadline each month to get your tag posted? Did you do it last year? I think you’re right though, adding some jewel tones will really help. Thanks so much for sharing this! Hugs! Sandy Leigh #80

    1. HI Sandy, Some people do copy Tim’s tag exactly. I usually don’t, but use the techniques as a jumping off point for my own projects. I’ve also learned that I do not have to go out and buy every single product in the list, lol.

If you post your project with Inlinkz at the bottom of his post by the end of every month, you have a chance to win a prize package. I won a stamp set and a TH apron some time ago.

I’ve been participating since the 12 Tags of Christmas 2008 and was SO happy when he switched to a tag each month. 🙂

Let me know if you have any more questions.

  6. Hi Sandy, I know we’re all supposed to be admiring your desk and all on this WOYWW, but awww, kitties! Who doesn’t love a good kitty snap?! We were supposed to get a lot of snow too, but I was surprised to awake with only a whopping 1 inch of it. I hope you make out okay! Hugs xo

    1. Yeah, we made out just great… with 15 inches! I’m just so glad it’s the light, fluffy stuff. Non of the kitties have the slightest bit of interest in venturing out in the 5° weather. 🙂

  7. Mmmm… inks!
Heard today from a neighbour that a strange cat has been coming through her cat flap and bullying her cats! We must have a Molly in this street too!!!
    Happy Wednesday

  8. This snow is wonderful, powdery happiness! It’s cold but I don’t mind that so much and the dogs love playing in it! Now I came here to see your desk lol and I love that you do the tags. I’ve never gotten into the tag thing, could never get in too deep to a lot of what the wonderful Mr. Holtz does, but learning to use his products has been a blast!

  9. I can appreciate the difference between the types of snow even though we don’t get much here. I don’t understand the cats names though! I didn’t much like Tim’s tag for this month either – a bit plain for me. Have a great week #35

  10. I understand the hierarchy of the kitty world. My daughter moved home and brought her two cats with her. One of her kitties – Peanut – was the mean one. She ruled over Molly and Sebastian with an iron paw, too. They’ve since moved out and Sebastian is happily a single kitty now. 🙂 April #11

  11. Hello Sandy – taking me a long time to get round this week – sorry! Great desk – hope you managed to get done the tag you wanted – and are still enjoying the fluffy white stuff!! we haven’t had any here yet this year – but I love it when it arrives!
    Have a great week.
